Does it matter who's the biggest car manufacturer? Are new car buyers swayed by such information? I think not, although nationalistic tendencies and brand loyalty may motivate an attraction to this sort of data. I suppose a company's image is affected by how well they may be doing, or not. As for the car producers, there is satisfaction in passing a competitor, especially when being number one.
