The Lotus Elise is one of the lively, most agile sportscars on the market. One thing to keep from taking the big boys is the lack of relative power: the smallest of Lotus sportscars from a small four-cylinder engine uses Toyota-sourced. Leave it to Hennessey to find a solution.

The work begins with a Lotus chassis, the chopped and reformed with a wheelbase longer able to accommodate much bigger machines. A Corvettemesin, in this case: to be specific, LS9 supercharged V8 from the Corvette ZR1 all-conquering. Hennessey then further song for the 725-horsepower engine, with the addition of a pair of turbochargers to produce up to 1000 or 1200 horsepower, according to buyer specifications.

Power is handled by six-speed manual transmission, traction control is programmed and fully adjustable suspension, and kept in check by the huge carbon-ceramic brakes 15-inch. Only ten units will be built each year, ranging from $ 630,000.
